Andrew Coombes

landscapes, seascapes, abstract and nature

I try to take images that evoke the feeling I get where and when I take that photo.

I look for colour, form and nature's symmetry as abstract art.

Photographic philosophy - my thoughts on what it's all about - to me.

Octoberber 2026 Showcase

Rowing Boats

Two rowing boats on the lake at Monet's garden in Giverny.

The gardens are spectacular, and the lake with it's lilies, is just beautiful. The two boats seemed to me to lend themselves to black and white treatement. Horizontal against the verticality of the bamboo behind them.

No.8252 :: 1/8s | f/13.0 | 42mm | ISO200

Water Lilies

Yes, lilies on Monet's lake, the surrounding trees reflecting on the water, the blue sky above. There are so many ways to look across the lake, and every vista is different.

No.8208 :: 1/640s | f/5.6 | 135mm | ISO200

The Lily Pond

A wider view of the lake and some of the fantastic reflections that appear when the sun comes out.

No.8224 :: 1/100s | f/9.0 | 100mm | ISO200
