Nature provides an endless stream of fascinating images. Sometimes you view them from afar, sometimes you have to get in really close, you just have to look.
One of my favourite plants, the teasel. Such a sculptural shape and rich colour to the florets. It wasn't just me that found this one attractive, a hoverfly flew in for a closer look, keeping just the other side of the teasel from the one feeding. Taken at West Down, Chilbolton.
[Fl-H&T]A shot from a visit to RHS Wisley. Any of the RHS gardens are a rich ground for great images of plants and landscapes.
[Fl-CD]Another one from RHS Wisley, A solitary head of a Verbina in a strong shaft of light. I shot for the light to keep the background dark - whcih worked pretty well I think!
[Fl-VS]A few stalks of grass still standing in December, against the odds when the rest of the field was flattened by the wind and rain.
[Fl-WG]I say "twins", but there are three trees really, just arranged as two. I saw these trees and immediately thought this was going to be a black & white image, the white of the birches standing out against the darker background.
Taken at RHS Rosemoor, 20/04/2025
[Fl-TT]The intense colour, the gentle spiral, amazing abstract art from nature.
[F1-LU]West Down produces some amazing teasels. I came upon these whilst walking my dogs, the slowly setting sun putting a halo around their spiky heads. It was a great day for Autumn colours.
Taken on West Down, Chilbolton, on the 22nd October 2016.
