Prints - Fauna

An egret and a heron fishing in the early morning mist over the River Test. The Common had an increasing community of egrets at this time, and they slowly pushed the herons out. This was the last time I saw both of them together on the same stretch of the river.

Taken at Shamwari Game Park, South Africa, on the 12th May 2019.

We were driving through the park along a very hot, bumpy old track, and when we turned a corner there he was, on a little knoll overlooking a water hole. Completely unconcerned about our appearance, he lay there very obligingly for me to take some photos.

Taken on a cold and frosty morning on Chilbolton Cow Common, and I was dressed for the occasion. Imagine having to keep diving into cold water, then sit on a branch in the even colder air to eat your breakfast. Brr.

Cows!

I couldn't resit this one. I could have called it "Mr and Mrs".  Taken on the cliffs at Warren Point, north Devon.

A visit to Namibia 2025. She had made a kill and taken it up in a tree. Resting after lunch she tolerated our presence for a while, but then made her feelings plain!
